On March 2, 2023, the team of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine took part in the strategic session of the heads of higher education institutions on the development of teacher education, initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which took place at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. The event was attended by more than 120 heads of higher education institutions of Ukraine and other state institutions.

The event was chaired by Serhiy Shkarlet, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. The panel discussions moderated by Serhiy ZAKHARIN, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, helped to understand the tasks set for the participants even more deeply and thoroughly and to come closer to the main goals of the strategic session - to find new solutions and offer innovative ideas that will become the key to raising the educational sector in Ukraine to higher levels. In particular, in his report, Serhiy Zakharin focused on the regulatory framework of the education sector and recommendations for university managers on how to manage an educational institution in times of war. The lively discussion resulted in the identification of the requirements for a modern teacher and graduate as a benchmark that all educational actors should follow.

Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, NEO Coordinator in Ukraine, joined the event and presented the opportunities of the EU Erasmus Program for 2021-2027, including the next call, the results of the projects and their use in reforming higher education in Ukraine. The speaker emphasized the importance of international cooperation and synergy with European colleagues to implement successful cases of teacher education development in Ukraine.
