On 19 March 2026, an open discussion on a new architecture of education in Ukraine and preparing young people for a rapidly changing world took place in Kyiv. The event combined an expert discussion on higher education transformation with the presentation of the Bachelor’s programme “Mohyla Trivium: Liberal Arts and Sciences” at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

Representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office — Ukraine and the National Higher Education Reform Experts Team (HERE team) took part in the event: Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office — Ukraine; Zhanna TALANOVA, Deputy Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine; Mychailo WYNNYCKYJ, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy; and Oleg SHAROV, Director General of the Directorate of Higher and Adult Education, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The discussion also featured the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen LISOVYI, as well as former Ministers of Education and Science of Ukraine, representatives of academia, experts and the university community.

The discussion focused on the need to transform the higher education system in response to the challenges of war, technological change and labour market dynamics. Participants emphasised a shift from narrow specialisation towards developing critical thinking, adaptability and interdisciplinary competences.

Particular attention was paid to the role of universities as institutions shaping values, mindset and responsible decision-making, as well as preparing graduates capable of acting under conditions of uncertainty.

Within the event, the Bachelor’s programme “Mohyla Trivium: Liberal Arts and Sciences” was presented, based on interdisciplinarity, personalised learning, critical thinking development, project-based learning and mentoring.

The discussion highlighted the need for a systemic rethinking of the role of higher education as a key driver of human capital development, resilience and Ukraine’s recovery.
